Question 1

Question 2

The technical aspects have helped portray the characters better. We have used different shot types to show status through each of the characters (when Jamilla takes Tarjae’s watch) this helped the audience understand who the characters were. We also used mise on scene. The props (clothing) the sound (in the beginning we used saddened music) when bullies arrived we used rap.

i have made a facebook page to answer my questions to question 4 i have used statuses, liked pages to illustrate the answer to each of the questions. the date of birth shows the age of my character.

Question 5

The roll of the rough cut feedback helped improve our teen opening as we used different shots to help introduce the characters which were teenagers.

my teen film reached the target audience through the cinema screening which was shown to the ages we targeted at. it was a success as all viewers were students so each one of them could possibly relate to the situation. we have also put it on vimeo as well...

Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The wider audience our teen film would be an average teenage boy or girl who is interested in movies in general, fashion, music, and clothes. They may also enjoy doing athletics, going to the movies and possibly going to large music events. They may also have a good clothing sense and are into designer clothes but nothing to expensive. More specifically, the type of person to watch our teen film is someone who has gone through hard times in their life and was subjected to bullying as well.

The unique selling point of our movie is that people can relate to our movie and it contains real-life situations that teenagers and young people can relate to and could make it easier for them to share the experiences with other people.

This is my interview that I conducted to ask the audience about the teen film opening that my group has created:

Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

I have created a Microsoft power point presentation and have taken screenshots of each slide.

Evaluation Question 6

Evaluation Question 7

When I did the preliminary task compared to the final production of my film, I have learnt how to use new programs and software's which I have never come across before. Programs I have used in the production of our groups film are; Slideshare, Timetoast, Prezi, Blogger, Final Cut Pro, slide.es, Photoshop, an online audio converter, Microsoft word, Microsoft power point and many other programs. The programs have helped me to create pieces of work using a range of different technologies, instead of using one type of program to write pieces of work on. A piece of software that has helped me the most is Blogger as it has allowed me to write up Blogs to post online and for everyone in my group to see.

Mise en scene is about all aspects of a film and everything that is on the screen. In 'Demise' we used various locations inside the library, at the college gates and the dining hall. The use of our locations was intended to show travel between each scene. At the start of the film, the main character is seen killing themselves and a jump-cut is used to switch to another scene where the actor is entering the college, this is an example of travelling and arriving. The jump-cut helped to link the first scene with the next scene but at another different location which was the college.

Who watches teen movies?

Teen movies are watched mainly by teenagers aged between 14-19, the reason for this is because the events that happen in the movie usually can relate to and appeal to a teenage audience.

Our teen film Demise is aimed at an audience aged 15-20 male and female. We aimed our film at this audience as teens between these ages are usually associated with themes such as bullying, suicide, abuse etc. Therefore they are more likely to relate to the events which take place in the film.

I have created a Facebook profile for our film Demise. The profile is aimed at a specific group which is the social networking site users. Through this we are able to use free advertising through facebook and attract young teens who use the site.

filming session/editing

Today our group added extra shots to our film fro advice given by the teacher. Currently, the shots are being implemented into our current opening scene on final cut pro to improve the film however, this is only our rough cut and would be improved further to in the upcoming days before the deadline next week. Next lesson, our group will be producing photo evidence for the filming sessions we have covered.

March 3rd Editing

Today we responded to our feedback and went out gathered more shots, better shots!
We added some traveling and arriving shots so the audience know who the characters are straight away.
We also re-filmed a bulling scene adding a range of different angled shots such as, shot reverse shot, close ups, extreme close ups etc.
We are going to take the new improved shots and edit them into our film opening today adding to the scenes that have already been edited.
We are aiming to finish all our editing over todays lesson and our next lesson, so that it is ready for next weeks deadline. Also we will be able to tweak any little errors in the following lessons.

On February the 21st Tarjae and Jamila filmed part of the opening of our teen drama at Tarjae's house.
Some of the scene they took were:
.The drowning scene
.Drug overdose scene
.Suicide not scene

Feedback on filming

Feedback on filming

Today we given advice on what we should improve on our film to make it better. One of the suggestions was to retake a shoot taken of on the steps of the college entrance with a variety of shots to enhance the film. Using different shots will mean that we will gain a higher mark once our teen film opening is graded. Overall, our film requires adding the new shots that we have taken, editing it all up and making sure everything is synced with the theme tune.

27th editing feedback

Feedback

Today we was given feedback on our film and on our editing so far. There were a thew things we needed to change and a thew scenes we needed to retake. Overall our film opening is going well and we have some great shots, but to reach the level that we expect from us we need to go one step further and make sure everything is in sync and flows well.

Title Edit

Editing

Today i worked on editing the start of our teen drama. In class i constructed an identity for our film, i created this in 'Motion'. The identity i made will be used at the very beginning of our film showing the name of the film and the production company that we invented.

Planning the voice over

We wanted to make sure the voice over was effective and draw the attention of the audience immediately

Diary entry of filming

Friday 21st - filming the drowning
Place - jamillas house

At jamillas we first planned out what we would film that day. We were a bit sceptical of the drowning and planned out how we can do it safely

We re did the drowning a numerous if times as I was having troubles going under the water without getting a blocked nose

After filming the scenes me made sure that the scenes were where up to a good standard and we made sure we had different shots of each event.

Filming 10th feb 2014

Today our group had our first filming session. We gathered a range of different clips that we will edit into our teen drama, we took 15-20 different shoots and shoot types. We filmed many bullying scenes, we filmed this many times so we could chose the best shot to edit in. We also took location shots to show our surrondings. We shot "popular" kids to show how tarjae has a low status within the school.

This is an exmaple of what we filmed today

Feedback for our pitch

After our pitch we got feedback from Marisa then will help make our teen filming opening.

Advice:

- To re adjust out target audience as it may be inappropriate for ages 12, and doesn't appeal to 22 year olds.
we have now changed the target audience range to 15 to 19 this age is best suitable as the film most relates to audience of this age.

- make sure we have enough footage to cover the 2minutes
we will film enough scenes that will fit 2 minutes even extras.

MEDIA PITCH

Pitch FEEDBACK.

From doing my Pitch i got feedback that would help us to progress into a higher grade.
From feedback we got told that we need to organise our filming schedule tighter so that we have a clear idea of what we need to film, as our dates are mixed up. Also we need to think of what the rest of the film would be about so we could focus on the opening better.
We also got told that we should film more than enough footage so we can fill the 2mins. We should film cut aways, location shots ect.
Also we need to talk about what our target audience is we orginally said 12-22 but from thinking about it twice we need to make it closer together, so from re thinking about it its aimed at 14-19  year olds.
Because 12 year olds are too young to have a good understanding about smoking, pills, bulling and death, so we raised the target age. Our audience will be mainstreamers, in the working class catagory

Presentation feedback

Presentation feedback

Following our group presentation, we was given feedback about things we can change and update to make our presentation even better.

  1. Changing distributors and producers - Finding an appropriate company to get our film to the public.
  2. Adding dates to presentation - Adding the dates from our timetoast to the presentation.
  3. Lower the age bracket of the movie - Changing our age bracket from 12-22 to 15 to 19 would be more appropriate as our movie will not appeal to who are over 20.
  4. Appeal to audience - The movie will appeal to teenagers and people who have been going through bullying.
  5. Creating extra footage - As our movie will consist of a large amount of flashback , in the situation where we need extra footage, our group will use the extra footage captured as back-up
  6. what will happen in the rest of the movie - Our group will create a storyboard of what will happen after the starting of the teen movie

Presentation feedback

Presentation feedback

After our presentation we were given feedback from some off our peers.
One of the question asked was how does the film start?
our response was that the film begins with flash backs of events that happen throughout the film, leading to the climax at the ending of the film.

Another question asked was what happens in the film?
our reply this was, the film shows the life of a girl showing the ups and downs. Eventually we see the effect that bullying and abuse has on her resulting in her tragedy.

Ways to improve our film

Improving our film

After our presentation we were given some information on how we can improve our video here are some of them:

. One way we can improve our film is by lowering our target audience. At the moment our target audience is ages12-22, we learnt that this is not a suitable target audience, 12 and 22 year olds have different views on things additionally the characters may not be able to relate to both ages. Therefor we have re-thought the target audience and narrowed it down to ages 15-19.

. Another way we can improve our film is by officially deciding on when we are going to film specific scenes and what dates we will film and edit. We will need to decide on dates that will give us enough time to make sure everything is perfect before our deadline.

. Furthermore another improvement we need to do is to plan the rest of the film. By planning the rest of our film we will be able to have more of and understanding of how to edit and create the opening.
